Lyndra's Love Note: Movie Recommendation

Movie Recommendation - About Time

Love Relationship Coach Lyndra Hearn Antonson
Dear Friend,
Movies are an entertaining way to explore and learn about love relationships from a comfortable distance. Characters can mirror our own thoughts, feelings, and challenges. They can inspire us to consider new possibilities. Or remind us of what not to do next time.
My husband Dale and I both loved this movie. Let us know what you think of it.
About Time, R, 123 minutes, 2013
Described as a romantic comedy about time-travelers, this movie is so much more than that. Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) has a successful career and great relationships with friends and family. But he longs to find love. When it comes to romantic relationships, he’s a bumbling “failure” until he meets Mary (Rachel McAdams). Then his hopes for true love soar.
It’s not just romantic love we enjoy in this film. It’s also the story of sweet love relationships between a man and his father (Bill Nighy), a brother and sister, and more. In addition to love, a touching theme is about being mindful to not let the worries of the day stop us from noticing how wonderful life can be.
What are Your Relationship Movie Favorites?
I’m sure you have your own movie favorites. Please share what they are and what makes them special to you. Feel free to leave a post on my Love Relationship Coaching Facebook page. If you don’t use Facebook, you can email me

Love Relationship Tip #2 - Move Into Your Relationship Future

Tip #2 Complete the Past and Move Into Your Relationship Future!

Dear Friend,
Are you being held back by the past?
You may feel resentment when you still feel victimized by a person or a situation. As long as we’re stuck in a victim role, we’re at the mercy of others or life. In order to heal  resentments and re-claim your power, you first want to become curious about your role. In light of these past relationships, you might ask yourself:  Did I give my power away?  How did I ignore my own intuition?  How did I not speak my truth?  How did I not stand up for what I knew was right?  In what ways did I abandon myself?
Ask these questions with gentle curiosity and a deep compassion for yourself. At one time or another, every one of us has abandoned ourselves and given away our power. The good news is that we have the opportunity to re-claim it!
Toxic Ties Keep Us Where We Are
Toxic ties are relationships where you feel fear, obligation or guilt. You feel unable to say “no” or set limits. You have difficulty telling the truth or being your authentic self. And you’ll notice you probably lose personal power when you're with these others.
You want to communicate the truth of who you are and what you want and need. You also want to surround yourself with relationships which nurture and inspire you. It's not necessary to abruptly end toxic-tie relationships. However, you do want to begin to evolve them by recognizing your own part in the dynamic and taking a stand for yourself.
Are You Unconsciously Sabotaging Yourself?
Old unconscious agreements can be subtle. We made them at a time when they made sense but no longer do. However, they continue to be a powerful influence that can limit us. Our job is to identify, eliminate or re-negotiate them.
One of my Calling in “The One” clients realized how she’d maintained a sense of low self-worth in exchange for her ex-husband’s financial security. When she later began expressing her full potential, she was able to “call in” a new relationship – a man who was happy to support her greater expression.
Another client, an unmarried successful career woman in her 50's realized she'd been living with a sense of total failure, because she hadn’t given her mother the grandchildren she'd  wanted. Until this otherwise successful woman realized her unconscious belief, a feeling of failure colored everything in her life.
Personally, I remember observing my parent’s unhappy marriage and thinking, if that's what marriage is, I want no part of it.  That unconscious agreement acted as a powerful intention keeping me single for decades.
So, make a commitment to clean your inner house!

Your Exercise

Practice this exercise over the next week, and begin to let go of the past to move into a more fulfilled life and love.
Step 1:  Start by taking several deep breaths.  Shift your attention from the outside world to the sensations and feelings in your body.  When we are connected with ourselves in our bodies, we are able to access useful information from the deeper part of ourselves.
Step 2: Identify a few agreements – spoken and unspoken – that may be limiting you in finding greater love and a more fulfilled life. These could be agreements with your parents, siblings, other parent figures like a teacher, or ex-loves.
Step 3: What kind of impact are these agreements having on you and your life?  Which of these would you like to let go of or re-negotiate?
Step 4: Now, what new agreements would you like to make that would help you create a more balanced and fulfilled life?  Examples could be: I agree to put my true desires before the wishes of my parents. I agree to stop connecting with family or friends through the bad-mouthing of the opposite gender. I agree to express my greatest potential and trust that my future mate will love me for it.
Step 5:  Look into the future.  What would be possible in your life once you started living these new agreements? Use your imagination!

Summary

We’re at the mercy of old agreements as long they're unconscious, when we're acting in response to an unknown driving force. By consciously recognizing these limiting agreements, we can evolve them into new ones which support us in creating a magnificent love relationship. The good news is that the past does not determine your future.
I hope you’ve gained a better sense of how you can transcend the limitations of the past for a fuller expression of love. You can create the love of your dreams. And it's time to get started.

Love Relationship Tip #4 - Use Your Intuition in Matters of Love!

Tip #4 Use Your Intuition as a Source of Guidance in Matters of Love

Dear Friend,
Everywhere you turn there's information about love relationships – self-help books, psychology experts, talk-shows and advice columns – they’re all focused on the topic of love. Then there's the solicited and unsolicited advice of family, friends and co-workers.
If the information was consistent and in agreement, it might be easy to navigate the path to love. But often it's not.
Questions of the Heart
When you have questions about matters of the heart, where can you go to receive the best information? Often the very best answer is going to come from your own intuition. From inside you -- not from some external source.
A key aspect of my coaching work is to help clients recognize their own “on-target” intuition and the ability to follow that intuitive guidance for great results – in love and life.
What is Intuition?
Intuition is sometimes referred to as the sixth sense. It’s experienced as a gut feeling, an inner knowing or a strong hunch that defies logic. Intuitive “nudges” come to people in many ways: sensations in the body, images that come to mind, night dreams, and in the “synchronicities” of daily life.
We all have intuition whether we're aware of using it or not. Don’t be concerned if you feel like you’re the most logical person in the world and can’t apply this intuitive ability. Intuition is like a muscle that becomes stronger the more you use it.
Trust Your Intuitive Guidance
Personally, I experience my own intuition in different ways. When someone says something and I get “chills,” I know they've spoken an important truth. And sometimes a choice just feels right whether it makes logical sense or not.
We can learn to trust our intuition to let us know whether to move forward in a relationship or not. For example, many years ago I allowed myself to fall in love with a man who told me that he smoked marijuana every evening. My intuition told me to end the relationship, but I allowed emotions to override my gut feelings. Because I couldn't be truly happy in a relationship with someone who abused drugs, our relationship ended in heartbreak. I could have saved myself a lot of pain if I'd honored my intuitive knowing.
Follow the Inner Nudge to Happiness
Many years ago, I moved to Vermont for graduate school and fell in love with the place. Friends often heard me say that I’d never leave the Green Mountain State. I had a terrific life. I lived in a beautiful location. I had a dream job as a psychotherapist working with children and families. I had wonderful friends, and I’d purchased my first home. I didn't have a love relationship, but I had the confidence it would happen eventually.
Strangely, as soon as I’d purchased my new home I began having thoughts like, If I were to move somewhere else, where would it be? This was followed by a number of incidents where people mentioned how much they thought I’d like Minneapolis.  (I was familiar with the Twin Cities because the headquarters of the spiritual teaching I follow is there, and I had friends in the area.)
Miracles Can Happen!
Over the next two years, I became convinced that my next step was moving to Minneapolis. Miraculously, I quickly sold my Vermont home in a down market, and in Minneapolis found a great apartment that took dogs (a miracle in itself). And within two months I had two job offers!
This is an example of what can happen when we listen to our inner wisdom and open ourselves to working with “the universe” to fulfill our dreams. However, the best was yet to come. Six years later, I met my husband, Dale, in Minnesota. We wouldn’t have met or fallen in love if I hadn't heeded the inner call and moved across the country. He's worth every mile and all the years I had to wait!

Your Exercise

Step 1.  Check in with your intuition. During the day – or just for an hour – keep “checking in” with your intuition. When it comes time to make a decision ask: What now? If you’re nervous about making a “major” relationship decision, practice in the more mundane areas of your life by asking things like: What clothes should I wear this morning? What should I eat for lunch? What route should I take home? Listen for the answers that come from your heart or deep inside you. This is great practice.
Step 2.  Get on-target guidance in a problem area. Now choose a more challenging life situation relating to a job, relationship, health, family or finance issue. Invite your intuition in. Be open to receiving a nudge, a gut feeling about a direction to take. If you’re open and aware, you can receive surprising “on target” guidance. The guidance can come in many forms: inspiring thoughts, images or symbolic pictures, night dreams, emotions, gut feelings, inner knowingness.
Step 3.  Review your success. Assess the results of using your intuition. Did it help or hinder? What about the times you didn’t go with your intuition and used only logic? What happened then?

Summary

I hope you’ve gained a better sense of why developing your intuition “muscle” can serve you well in love and life. The more you trust it, the more you can wisely apply the guidance you receive to create a great life and “call in” greater love.
